What is a Descriptor?

Descriptor is used in Directory Manager as another word for Attribute. It is used in System Matching and on a Personal Digital Identity (PDI) profile screen. These will usually have a source prefix of 3 digits. for example: “ADI – Account Expiration date” or ESR – “Email Address”. The BDS team are able to add and update these to suit your requirements, provided the information is there from the original data source, we should, in most cases be able to add these to the PDI profile screen.

For example: If you use NHSMail: a Descriptor could be NHM: Status or NHS: AUP this will show you on a users profile screen if that linked email address in NHSMail is Deleted or Active and will show you if the user has logged on and accepted the Acceptable Use Policy Terms.
