BDS Solutions remain the only company to apply its combined technical and business knowledge to enable NHS organisations to automate system administration utilising data held in national systems. This is a result of the development and maintenance of the Directory Manager software that integrates directly with NHS Electronic Staff Records (ESR) and NHSmail platform, as well as Active Directory and Office 365.
The complex nature of the ESR and NHSmail interfaces, and the continued drive by the NHS customers to automate more aspects of their account management, requires ongoing maintenance and evolution of the product. Given the highly-compliant and specialist nature of the health sector, no generic solutions are available thus requiring continued research and development on behalf of the NHS.
Directory Manager has grown it’s NHS user base throughout the last 12 months, now extending to over 80 Trusts. The NHS national agency for IT, NHS Digital, now recognising the product as a dependency in some of the synchronisation requirements for NHSmail. The software automates the following in response to the addition and update of staff details and work assignments in ESR:
1. Active Directory account creation, update and expiration
2. Security Group membership management
3. User home and profile folder management
4. Mailbox management for Exchange or NHSmail
5. Ability to link additional systems to staff records
6. Email notifications of technical impact of changes to work assignments
