Directory Manager™ The NHS Market Leading Identity Management solution
Directory Manager™ is the solution that allows Active Directory to be managed automatically by data provided from ESR. Directory Manager retains records of staff changes provided by ESR and maintains audit records of the approval and results of applying these changes to Active Directory. This robust control and evidence helps NHS Trusts achieve the requirements for Information Security Access under section 8 of the Information Governance Toolkit. The success of the Directory Manager is due to the flexible approach available to meet business requirements.
Obtaining staff data from multiple systems
To obtain all pertinent directory data for staff, it is often necessary integrate data from multiple systems in addition to the ESR or other HR system, for example:
- Deaneries and Agency staff providers
- Local Service Desk / Telephone Directory solutions
- Third party supplier systems
- Other data sources, e.g., CSV or Excel files, databases and / or directories.
Directory Manager™ can automatically processes data from additional systems, combining it with HR data based on business rules agreed with the Trust.
Manual entry of records and staff updates
Where data is not available from managed systems, Directory Manager™ can provide a facility for manual entering staff records. These requests for new accounts pass through the same approval process as data from HR ensuring consistency and retention of audit trail.
Staff may also submit changes to their own record for approval through the web portal provided with Directory Manager™.
Email notifications and extracts
Changes that occur with the directory can be notified via email to designated adminstrators via email. This permits business processes to be initiated to update systems that are not directly integrated with Directory Manager™. Scheduled extracts of changes can be provided in CSV format to allow the systematic update of other sources.
Integration with other systems
Having established Directory Manager™ as the identity management solution, Trusts can then make use of the data provided by the solution to establish connectors into secondary (non-Active Directory integrated) applications.
Providing data to the NHS National Directory
Once in place, Directory Manager™ provides the perfect solution from which to provide data to the NHS National Directory. Scheduled extracts in the form required by the National Directory can be transmitted automatically on a daily basis to ensure you organisations details are accurately reflected on the directory.
Customising Directory Manager
Today's software development is not just about programming - it's about understanding the relationships between the different technologies we use and allowing them to interact. With .NET, Microsoft leads the way in offering development tools that permit the integration of disparate technologies. BDS are the .NET experts and our Development Services team will ensure your development project is successful.
Incorporating Single Sign-on and Self Service Password Management
Often promoted as Identity Management solution these aspects are in fact complimentary additions to the Identity Management process that addresses additional requirements for staff security management (access to systems) and reduction of service desk activities achieved by the removal of the need to facilitate staff password resets.d to facilitate staff password resets.
Directory Manager™ is often deployed with the Imprivata Single Sign-on, and is also compatible with other leading solutions that utilise Active Directory as the primary source of user account information.
