User Options - General
Don't create accounts If ticked, Directory Manager will NOT create any new user accounts. Only existing accounts will be updated. Use Global Catalogue When accessing Active Directory, Directory Manager can use either the Global Catalogue or the standard directory name. NOTE: This should be not be selected without prior consultation with BDS Solutions. This is the field name from the extract file that is used as the UniqueID value for matching entries on the file to existing accounts. Adding the value here brings added validation of the extract file ensuring this field is present before attempting to process the file. Check import duplicates Checks for duplicate entries in the extract file, i.e., the same user appearing twice. If selected, the first entry in the extract file will be used and all others ignored. These duplicates will be logged in the action log. Remove Spaces When reading entries from the extract file, Directory Manager can ignore any spaces in the surname field. For example, Mohammed Kahn will be created and updated as MohammedKahn. Disable users when purging When purging runs, users will be disabled by default. Deselect this option to prevent the accounts being disabled. Move purged users to When purging expired accounts, Directory Manager can also move the accounts to a specified folder. Select this option to turn this on and add a fully qualified LDAP path. To purge all users from a defined part of the directory, select this option and enter a directory base (without the LDAP://servername/) into the box. Purging will run against this part of the directory as apposed to the OUs defined in the Rules. New Objects - Hide from address book If ticked, new accounts are hidden from the address book. Also, users who have their account disabled by purging will be removed from the Outlook address book. Manage address book settings on update This option refers to the HideFromAddressBook value on Active Directory for existing users. If ticked, Director Manager will attempt to manage this value when updating users, dependant on the "Hide From Address Book" setting above. If unticked, Directory Manager will leave this value alone. Same OU / Same Parent / Global When adding users to security groups, Directory Manager can either use just the security groups in the same OU as the user, under a common parent OU or use all the groups on the directory. NOTE: Groups are only managed if they have codes followed by a semi-colon in the Notes field. Attribute The field attribute from the extract file to use to manage groups. Enter the code value of the field - open the attributes form to get the value by clicking the "..." button. Start If using a substring of the attribute, this is the starting point in the string. Often used with length below. Length If using a substring of the attribute, this is the length of the substring. Often used with Start above. Alias Name When updating existing user accounts, the current alias name is not update to reflect any formatting values set in Directory Manager. Selecting this option will force the update of existing users to the same Alias Name value as new users. Apply Status Changes When creating users, Directory Manager responds to Status ID values to control the way in which the user is created. This switch determines whether the status flag is used during user update as well. Contact BDS Solutions to learn more about using Status values.
