User Options - Account Settings
Account Type The format of the account name. With a username of "firstname lastname" the options are: 1 = firlas (i.e. 3 chars from each name) Extra account format options can be developed upon request. Initial Password The format of the initial password: 0 = using the first 6 chars from the account name Extra password formats can be developed upon request. User must change password at next logon If ticked, the user will be prompted to change their password when they first log on. Display Name The format of the display name. Placeholders can be used in this field (see Placeholders). This will be applied to users if no display name value has been set in the rule templates. Alias Name The format of the alias name. Placeholders can be used in this field (see Placeholders). This will be applied to users if no alias name value has been set in the rule templates. Manage Disabled Objects If ticked, accounts that are disabled on the directory but that are present in the extract file will be managed by the software. The accounts will be left as disabled after the update. If unticked, disabled accounts are ignored. Enable Accounts If ticked, accounts which have been disabled on the directory will be re-enabled by Directory Manager if the user appears on the extract file. If unticked, these users will be left disabled. NOTE: Accounts are only enabled if Manage Disabled Accounts is ticked. Create Mailboxes Mailboxes will be created for new users. If un-ticked, mailboxes will not be created. Create users as disabled If ticked, all new user accounts will be created but set as disabled. These can then be manually re-enabled at a later date. Directory Object Name Format This refers to the object name on the directory. The default is <lastname> <firstname>. 8 = lastfir (i.e. four letters of last name + three letters of first name) If a different format is required, this can be added by BDS Solutions. Alias Name These actions apply only to objects which already exist in the directory. If checked, the value is modified when updating the user, based on the rules for automatic name generation. If not checked, then the existing information is retained, and the values are not regenerated. Rename Folders Rather than generating new folders when a user is renamed, the existing folders are renamed to match the user. Suppress Renames By default, if a user's name is different on AD to the data source, the AD account will be updated to reflect the change, e.g., when someone gets married. Selecting this option will force Directory Manager NOT to rename user accounts in this way. They will still be updated as per normal. Suppress First Name changes By default, if a user's first name is different on AD to the data source, the AD account will be updated to reflect the change. Selecting this option prevents first names from being updated. This is useful in preventing"known as" names on the directory being replaced by "proper" first names from the data source.
