User Creation and Management

Directory Manager is very flexible when creating and managing users on a directory. The settings on the User Admin Pack form allow the directory administrator to specify exactly how the automation will work.

These settings cover:

  • Home drive / home folder / WTS folder creation
  • Mailbox creation
  • User account and password format
  • Display Name format
  • How to work with disabled accounts

These settings are covered in detail in this section. To open the form, click on the "User Creation Settings " button on the Process Settings tab.

The User Admin Pack is divided into five sections:

  • 1. General - general options relating to the extract file and processing users
  • 2. Account Settings - options relating to addition and updating users
  • 3. Paths - options relating to home and profile folders and login scripts
  • 4. WTS Settings - options relating to Windows Terminal Services (WTS)
  • 5. Advanced - advanced options that under normal circumstances do not need to be changed

Each option has help information. This is displayed on the right of the form when the mouse is hovered over the option.

In a number of cases a user name must be included in the option. Directory Manager uses placeholders to determine where to place the User’s name information. Placeholders are described in a separate section.
