How to set up Purging Before setting up purging, decide on a purge age to apply. This will be how long a user should go without being updated before it is purged. Bear in mind how often extract files will be processed to update the users. If this is to happen every two weeks, there is no point setting a purge age of one week. Also consider allowing some time for unanticipated events that may delay the process of extract files. When updating a purge age, this is not applied to users on the directory until they are updated via a process. In the rules engine, choose a Purge Type for each rule:
If two rules point to the same OU then both purge types will be applied. For example, if one rule has “Never” and another says "Always" then the purging will be applied by the rule with "Always". Therefore, ensure that if several rules point to the same OU, they all have the same purge type. To move disabled users to a specified OU on the directory when they are purged, set the "Move Purged Users" option in the User Creation settings form. When purging has been configured through the rules, tick the "Turn on Automatic Purging" option on the Process Settings tab.
Purging is now configured for use. Users will have the expiry date added / updated on each import and purging take place after each import. Purging from a specified base When purging from a specified base, the purge ages are applied in the same way as the rule-based purging above. When the purge runs, all OUs beneath the base are purged, irrespective of any possible Purge Type settings chosen. To apply the base, use the User Admin Pack.
