Extract File Management (Files Pending tab)

Directory Manager uses files that contain data extracted from the data source. These files will either be generated directly from the source or else generated through an intermediary BDS Solutions utility.

The Files Pending tab is used to manage these extract files. Extract files currently registered with the software are listed, along with the buttons to add and remove files.

Extract File List

All registered extract files are presented in this list. Files are listed with:

  • Internal name
  • Date added
  • Number of entries in the file

Files can be added to this list either manually by using the Add File button, or by automatically reading the mail queue or file system.

When files are added they are renamed to ensure all files have a unique internal name. To view the original filename, hover the mouse over the new filename – the original name will be displayed in the mouse tool-tip.

Add File

This button is used to select extract files to register with Directory Manager. Clicking this button will open a Browse File dialog box. Browse to find extract files and double-click, or select and click OK, to choose a file. The file will be validated to ensure it is a recognised format, then renamed and copied to the local install folder. Only a copy of the file is made, the original file is retained. This file will then be presented in the Extract File List.

If the file is not a recognised format, a suitable message will be displayed.

The file will also be checked to ensure it contains the Unique ID field. If not, a message will be displayed and the file rejected.

If Directory Manager is configured to read from the mail queue, from the file system, or both, when clicking the Add File button it will first prompt to see whether these locations should be checked for extract files. Choosing Yes will force the software to check for files and register any it may find. The Browse File dialog box will not then be shown. Choosing No will display the normal Browse File dialog box.

Remove File

This button will remove the selected file from the Extract File List and de-register the file with the software.

Extract files should only be removed by using this button.

Input File Viewer

This button opens the Input File Viewer for viewing the content of extract files and applying them to the match freeze table. See Input File Viewer and Match Freezing for more information.
