Directory Integrator Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
If you encounter any problems when using Directory Integrator it is always best to ensure you have the latest update first before seeking assistance. The latest update is available here.
Managing Data Sources
Can I have two servers with the same name?
No, it is not possible to have two data sources set up with the same server name. If you need to
use the same data source there are two methods to overcome this:
|
Why can I not edit my data source?
You can only edit data sources that are in use - place a tick in the left-hand column and then click "Edit Source"
Managing Organisations
How do I delete SMTP domains?
SMTP Domains must be removed in order, that is, the last entry must be deleted first, then the second-last and so forth. To remove one of the first domains you need to remove all domains that succeed this and then re-add the ones you wish to keep.
How do I delete X400 domains?
X400 Domains must be removed in order, that is, the last entry must be deleted first, then the second-last and so forth. To remove one of the first domains you need to remove all domains that succeed this and then re-add the ones you wish to keep.
I get the error message "Null value not allowed"
The database contains NULL values in the Domain field in the tblServers table in the DIN.mdb database. Open the database and enter "" (two double quotes) where the Domain table has no value.
User objects
Why can't I see a user I have just created on my database data source?
Click the container again to refresh the view and the new user will be displayed.
When I move a user, its original status is not retained.
This is because Directory Integrator uses the directory path as the unique key in the database. Therefore when a user is moved, it has a new directory path and thus is seen as a "New" object.
Why can't I clear my attributes?
If an attribute has a value in the database, then this will be used when updating the object. Clear the attribute, click save and then update it on the data source.
What happens when an OU is deleted on Active Directory?
Any selected users in an OU that is deleted will continue to be included on any submissions. As the OU can no longer be accessed, these cannot be un-selected without manually editing the database. Therefore, ensure any users are deselected first before deleting an OU.
Using the pick-lists
How can I select several items from the pick lists?
Hold down the shift or CTRL key and tick the items you want to add. Release shift before selecting the last to finalise the selection.
Verifying the Submission Data
How can I verify which users I am submitting?
To verify the users that have been selected, run the "Container Statistics Report" from the Tools > Report menu. This will list all selected users by their location and provide a total of all selected users.
