Submitting via Export Files

One function of Directory Integrator is to extract all information for selected objects and compile this in an export file. This file can then be used to communicate object data, e.g., to build up a community directory service.

The export file is built up from the data stored in the internal database for selected objects.

The export files are stored locally in the installation folder and are automatically emailed to a recipient.

When exporting automatically, only selected objects will be included. It may be necessary to manually select new objects to include them in the export.

To submit data by using export files, the following options need to be set in Tools > Options > Export Settings:

  • Communicate using this mail profile - either an Outlook profile must be selected OR Direct SMTP settings completed.

  • Send file submission every x - a time period must be specified for the export to take place. This can range from every hour through to every x days. Alternatively, the export can take place at a given time each day.

  • Submission email address - the address of the recipient of the file.

  • Submission email title - the title of the email containing the export file. If the email is to be read by an automated process, this title needs to be the expected value.

With these options set, Directory Integrator will run in background, producing the export file at the specified time.
