Using Directory Integrator This section describes the most common tasks which Directory Integrator will be used for. This covers:
Managing Object Information In order to prepare objects for exporting, first browse the data source to find the folders where the objects are located. The objects will then be listed in the Objects panel, along with their current status. Updating Values Selecting an object will display all its information in the Attributes panel. The majority of these attributes can be updated by entering new values directly into the attribute textbox in the panel. For the Job Role, Work Area, Clinical Specialty and Business Activity fields, only certain values provided by the NHS can be used. This is to meet National Directory validation. For these attributes, click on the corresponding button and select values from the list. To apply standard values to all objects in one folder a template can be used. Where an object does not contain the information on the template, this will be automatically added. Selecting for Export To select the object for export, click the Selected option at the bottom of the Attributes panel. Assuming the object passes any validation rules, the object information will be saved to the internal database and have its status set to "Selected". This object will now be included in any exports. Excluding from Export To prevent any objects from being exported, set the status to "Not Selected". This object will never be a part of an export. Saving to the internal database To update information for objects that are already selected, change any values and then click the "Save" button. This will save the changes to the internal database ready for export. Writing back to the data source To update the data source with the information compiled by Directory Integrator, click the "Update" button. The information will then be written to the originating directory or database source. To automatically save to the internal database whenever Update is clicked, select the "Auto-save to the details database upon update" option on the Database Settings page. When updating the data source, it is possible to undo the last action. To do this, click the "Undo" button. This will restore the object on the data source to its previous state.
