Organisation Management

This tab is used to maintain the organisation information used by Directory Integrator.

Organisations are used to apply validation rules to a set of data. Each organisation consists of:

  • A name - the standard name of the organisation
  • Code - the NHS code of the organisation
  • Short name (optional) - Short name of organisation used for legacy DS8 validation
  • SMTP domain information (optional) - the domain names used by the organisation
  • X400 information (optional) - the X400 email settings used by the organisation
  • Validation options (optional)

The Organisation Code is used to match a user to an organisation. When a user matches, the validation rules for that organisation are then applied.

Organisation List

This displays all the organisations in use by Directory Integrator. Listed on the right are the organisation details. Click on an organisation to view these details.

Status of Organisation

An organisation can be added to the configuration but not used by the software, or it can be used but then turned off in the future. When not in use, the organisation will not be used when matching users.

To deactivate an organisation, remove the tick from the Status option next to the organisation. Similarly, to activate an organisation, place a tick in the Status option. Organisations are set to active when first created.

Removing Organisations

To remove an organisation completely from Directory Integrator, remove the tick from the status and then go to the Database Settings tab and click "Remove Inactive Entries".

Add Organisation

Click this button to add a new organisation. See Add & Edit Organisation for details.

Edit Organisation

Click this button to edit the configuration of an existing organisation. First select the organisation from the list and then click this button. See Add & Edit Organisation for details.

Enforce Validation Rules

This is a master switch for applying validation rules in Directory Integrator. Validation options are configured for each organisation individually. However, these are only applied when this option is selected.

If this option is unselected, no validation rules are applied, even if validation options are set in the organisation configuration.

NOTE: When turning on this option, a prompt will be displayed asking whether all previously selected users should be unselected. This is to ensure that all selected users meet the validation rules.
