This section provides an overview of the installation process. For more detail, refer to the Installation Guide located in the 'Documentation' folder on the software CD.

  • Insert the software CD into the CD-ROM drive
  • Run the setup.exe found in the root of the CD
  • Follow the on-screen instructions
  • Once the install has completed, run the software from the Start > Programs menu

Using Directory Integrator for the first time

When prompted, enter the product application key. This is provided by BDS Solutions and is unique for each copy of Directory Integrator.

Next a message will be displayed asking for the configuration file. The best method is to copy it to floppy disk and insert this into the computer. Then click the OK button. This will first search the floppy drive for the file. If no file is found here, a standard file browser window will open. This allows manual browsing to the location of the config file, should it be on a network for example.

After importing the configuration file, the software Options form will be shown. Details of the primary data source and of the local organisation now need to be entered. These must be completed before exiting the Options form.

Once completed, click OK to start the software. Should this process be cancelled at any stage, it must be repeated when next starting the software.

Re-installing Directory Integrator

To change the install location of Directory Integrator, the following steps should be taken:

  • Take a copy the database called DirInt.mdb
  • Uninstall the software
  • Reinstall the software in the new location
  • Replace the database in the Program Files folder with the existing database copied in Step 1

If the database is stored in a different location, on a network drive for example, ignore steps 1 and 4 above. Instead, open the Tools screen and change the database location on the Database tab. Directory Integrator will have to be restarted before this change takes effect.
