Splitting Database Content

By default, Directory Integrator stores both configuration details and object information for export in the same database. However, these can be split into two separate databases. This is to allow several installation of Directory Integrator to be used in an organisation, each having a different configuration, but keeping just the one central store of object data.

These two databases are known as the "Application" database for the configuration information and the "Details" database to hold all the object data.

Using a separate Details Database

To use a separate details database, store a database in a central location on a network and then add the path to the "Details Database" box on the Database Settings form.

NOTE: If only an application database is defined, Directory Integrator will automatically store all data in this database. There is no need to define the same database twice.
