Export Settings

This options tab is used to configure export submissions settings. Also the options for creating an NHS Push connector file are on this tab.

Email Submission Settings

For more information on submitting export files, see Submitting data via Export Files.

Communicate using the mail profile

This list will display all Outlook mail profiles set up on the computer. Select the profile that will be used for sending and receiving messages.

When creating new profiles in Outlook, Directory Integrator will have to be re-started for the profiles to appear in the list.

Communicate using Direct SMTP

When Outlook is not installed on the same workstation as Directory Integrator, emails can be sent using Direct SMTP. This requires the name of an Exchange server through which to send the emails.

To configure sending by Direct SMTP, click on the ">>" button. This will display the following options:

Server - the name of an Exchange server
From - an email address to use as the "from" address
User - an account to use to authenticate against the Exchange server
Password - the password of the user account

Click Test to test the above settings. Click OK to store the settings.

Send file submission every

Select how often to send the export file. This can be sent either every day at a specific time or every x hours or every x days. Select the required setting from the drop-down boxes.

Submission email address

This is the email address Directory Integrator will send the export file to. To add multiple addresses, separate them using a semi-colon (e.g. John.Smith@nhs.net;Simon.Jones@nhs.net).

Submission email title

This is the email title that will be applied to the email containing the export file. When choosing this title, ensure this is what is expected by the receiver of the email.

Storing Submission Files

Export files can be stored as well as being submitted via email. The file will be created and stored before it is sent.

Store submission files locally

If selected, export files will be stored locally. If not selected, export files will only be submitted via email.

A folder path is required for this setting. Enter this either in the box available or by browsing using the ellipsis (...) button.

By default, this file is called "export.txt".

Unique filename

To change the default filename to a generated unique filename choose this setting. Filenames will now be generated using the current date and time, e.g., "Ex000001_11052006105753.txt"

Prompt for filename

To be able to specify the name of the export file, choose this setting. The following prompt will be shown when exporting:

A filename can be entered and the file will then be created with this name.

NOTE: If the export file is being submitted automatically, this option will be ignored and the file created with the default name.

Fields to exclude from the export file

NOTE: This option only applies to the BDS Format export file format (see below).

By default, the BDS export file will contain all fields that are contained in the Directory Integrator database. Certain fields can be excluded from the export file if required.

The list contains all the available fields that are available for export. Any fields that are ticked will not be included in the file.

Export Format

The way the export file is formed can be specified. This can be useful depending on how the export file is to be used.

BDS (default)

This is a format developed by BDS Solutions for easily transmitting data between software applications. The format of the file is:

[FILEHEADER]
[ITEMHEADER]
FieldName1:Value
FieldName2:Value
:
[ITEMFOOTER]
:
[FILEFOOTER]

Push Connector

Select this format to send the file in the Push Connector format. See National Directory Push Connectors for more information.

Exchange 2000 format

The file will be produced in CSV format, with column headings reflecting Active Directory 2000 / 2003 attribute names

Exchange 55 format

The file will be produced in CSV format with column headings reflecting Exchange 5.5 attribute names.

Compression Options

Directory Integrator can compress export files before saving and / or submitting. The compression will always be in a ZIP format. If an extension is entered, the export will be zipped and then the file renamed with the extension. This is to allow the file through firewalls where the ZIP extension can be blocked.

NOTE: The export is only zipped prior to being attached to the email. The file saved locally will not be zipped.

Push Connector

To set up the content of the Push file content, click the "File Content" button. See National Directory Push Connectors for more information.
