Data Source Management

This options tab is used to manage the primary and secondary data sources used by Directory Integrator.

NOTE: For more information on the difference between primary and secondary sources, along with possible file types, see Data Sources.

Data Source List

This displays all the data sources in use by Directory Integrator. Each source is listed along with:

  • Status - whether the source is currently in use
  • Source Name - the physical name of the source
  • Type - the format of the source, e.g., Active Directory, SQL
  • Friendly Name - a friendly name used to identify the source
  • Role - how the source is used, e.g., primary, secondary, updateable

Status of data source

A data source can be added to the software configuration but not used by the software, or it can be used but then turned off in the future. When not in use, the data will not be integrated with the other sources.

To deactivate a source, remove the tick from the Status option next to the data source. Similarly, to activate a source place a tick in the Status option. Data sources are set to active when first created.

Directory Integrator will always try and read from active data sources, so these sources must always be available to the software.

Removing Data Sources

To remove a data source completely from Directory Integrator, remove the tick from the source status and then go to the Database Settings tab and click "Remove Inactive Entries".

Add Source

Click this button to add a new data source, whether primary or secondary. See Add & Edit Data Sources for details.

Edit Source

Use this button to edit the configuration of an existing data source. First select the source from the list and then click this button. See Add & Edit Data Sources for details.
