Server Administration The Servers pane is used to administer servers Contact Manager will work with. The servers listed here will contain the directories managed by the software.
Contact Manager can import onto a number of directories at the same time. However, this cannot be done if entries are to be imported from one directory onto another. In this case, every entry would be marked as duplicate on import. Therefore, only add servers that are not related to any of the source address books. Contact Manager can only work within one domain. Server List This displays all servers administered by Contact Manager. Each server is listed with:
Servers are added and removed from the list by using the Add and Remove buttons. Add Server Click this button to select a server to be administered by Contact Manager. A dialog box will be shown prompting for the network name of the server.
This can be typed manually or browsed to using the ellipsis (..) button. Following this, a dialog box will be shown prompting for a friendly name.
Contact Manager will then attempt to connect to the server. If successful, the server will be listed in the Server list along with its type. If Contact Manager is unable to connect then a suitable error message will be displayed. Remove Server This will remove a server from being administered by Contact Manager. Select a server from the list and click the button.
Before removing a server, the Rules Engine must be updated to remove any reference to the server. Failure to do this could cause processing errors. Place Purged Entries in If soft purging is to be used for a server, choose the server from the list and select this option. An Organisational Unit (OU) on the directory can then be chosen that will store the purged entries. This can be done using the ellipsis (…) button. This option is only available for Active Directory servers. Manual Purge This button starts the purging process. It can be used if purging is required without wanting to first process address books. See Manual Purging for more information.
